The new Echo Dot 2 is still on sale for $24.99 right now, but I’d recommend saving an extra $5 by get the refurbished version. More often than not, it seems like refurbished Amazon devices are just returns that were opened but never actually used. If you’re planning to listen to music through the built-in speaker of the Echo Dot, it’s well worth paying an extra $10 for the 3rd Gen Echo Dot at $29.99, or getting a pair for $50. The new Echo Dot has a significantly better and louder internal speaker than the older model, but the 2nd Gen Echo Dot is still great for listening to spoken dialogue, home automation, and Alexa commands.
